How to write ads that sell

How Any Business Owner Can Write Ads Which Sell

Proven ad writer reveals simple response boosting secrets you can use in your business

If you’d like your ads, flyers, web pages, brochures and sales letters to generate more leads and sales, then here are the essential things you need to include in all your marketing…

1. Use headlines at the top of ALL your marketing

Your headline is what catches your prospect’s eye and makes them want to know more. The headline stops the reader in their tracks and says, “Hey, here’s something you need to know.” One rule when writing headlines is your headline must enter the conversation your prospect is having in their mind when they see it.

2. Your headline must make the reader want to read the first sentence

After your headline must make the reader want to read the first sentence. The first sentence must make the reader want to read the second sentence. The second sentence must make the reader want to read the third sentence. And so on. Until the reader has read all of your ad and pushed them into taking action.

3. Use sub-headlines

Sub headlines are important because they allow multiple entry points for the reader. These capture the type of reader who scans. See there are two types of reader. The one who reads every word. And the other type who scans copy. Your ad has to appeal to both types of reader.

4. Use a drop cap letter

To get people to read the first sentence use a drop cap letter for the first letter in the first sentence. Doing this will increase readership of your ad by 15% according to tests.

5. People buy benefits NOT features

People don’t buy what a product does. They’re buying the end result – what the thing does for them. They don’t want a 1” drill bit. They want a 1” hole. So make sure you convert all the features of your product or service into benefits.

6. Use proof

Nobody believes advertising. After all we’re being sold to in the ads. That’s why you need to back up every claim you make in your ad with proof. And you need to do this
immediately after you make the claim. When you do this the reader has no choice but to believe you.

7. Use multiple forms of proof

Use customer testimonials, statistics, before and after photographs, give away free information. Pile up the proof.

8. Make your ads look like editorial

Don’t make your ad look like an ad. Make it look like an article. People buy newspapers and magazines to read news. Not to read ads.

9. Use short sentences

Short sentences are easy to read and be understood. If your ad looks like it’ll be hard to read, nobody’s going to want to read it.

10. Also use short paragraphs

Again, it makes everything easier to read.

11. Have a Call to Action

At the bottom of your ad tell the reader what to do next. Tell them to click here. Or fill in a coupon or request your report. Don’t leave them without a call to action.

What to do next

Now you know some of the important elements in writing an ad that gets results. And when you include these elements in your ads and marketing pieces then the response will go up. That’s because your ads will attract the attention of your ideal prospects. And when this happens you’ll make more sales.
