Remember the blonde Swedish film star Britt Eckland? You do? For those of you who don’t she appeared in a James Bond film, The Man With a Golden Gun. And she was married to Peter Sellers as well as having relationships with a few other public figures.
Well she’s popped up this week in a full page direct mail ad. Promoting a supplement to prevent thinning hair.
A few things you should take from this ad:
1. Use of a celebrity to promote your product. People like and are interested in celebrities. And using a celebrity to endorse your product is a great idea.
2. Notice the way the ad starts with a story – Britt Eckland’story – to drag you into reading the ad.
The company should have used more proof. More testimonials. And the product is backed up with scientific studies – which studies though? Tell me.
I need to rationalize my buying decision to myself.
Also what awards has this product won? It’s no good saying Nourkrin has won major awards both in the UK and Europe. Be specific. That way it’s more believable. Specific writing is always more believable.
Apart from this it’s not a bad ad. Got a decent offer.
