Many people wonder how to write a sales letter. A sales letter is often used to sell a product or service for a business.
But, I find that many businesses actually don’t use the sales letter to the full advantage that they can be used for. Here are some pointers in how to write a sales letter.
1. At the very top of the sales letter you need a strong headline. A headline will state the biggest benefit you are offering. The headline should always be in a larger font then for the text of the rest of the letter and bold. You can also have the headline in colour.
2. The sales letter should be written in a ‘no-formal’ way. It should be like you are chatting with someone in a bar. A conversational style. Also the sales letter needs to be all about what you can do for your customer. The majority of sales letter I see are a ‘me’ message – all about the business.

3. The main thing your sales letter needs to do is to explain the benefits to your potential customer. People only care about themselves and you need to show your customer or potential customer ‘what’s in it for them’. Then show all the benefits in your letter.
4. Call for action. Always ask your prospect to take action such as: visit your website, fill in the order form, or more information. Just make sure you get your prospects to take action, if you don’t tell them what to do – then you can guarantee they won’t do anything.
