What to do if your web site doesn’t generate enough leads and sales

Well here are some simple ways you can improve your web site’s performance. So you make more sales and higher profits. Firstly let’s look at a way of getting your visitor to read on when they first land on your home page.

When a web site visitor lands on your web page, you’ve got about three seconds to grab their attention. And one way to flag the reader and say “Hey I’ve got something of interest for you here” is with a benefit orientated headline.

What do I mean by a benefit? Well compare the following two headlines. “Welcome to John Smith Butchers” versus “The Tastiest Most Tender Beef in Bude” Do you see the difference? The first headline is basically a “me” message. It’s about the butcher’s business. The second headline gives a benefit to the reader. And it’s a benefit the reader wants.

Second, you need to capture the reader’s email address. So you can send regular emails. Doing this allows you to build a relationship with the reader. After all you don’t know where they are in the buying cycle. They could be ready to buy today, in three weeks or three months. But, when they are ready to buy who are they more likely to buy from; the person who has been in regular contact with them or another company?

Third, make your web pages all about the reader. You do this by using the word “you”. So go through your page and where you have the word “we” rewrite the sentence using the word “you”. You see, if you go on about “we do this” and “we do that” you’re going to bore the reader. As people we’re only interested in ourselves or “What’s in it for me?”

Fourth, include plenty of proof. Look, we’ve all bought something in the past that hasn’t turned out like it should have done. So as people we don’t like making mistakes. Yet when somebody is trying to sell to us as in a web page we’re naturally skeptical. You overcome your reader’s skepticism by including plenty of proof. Include facts, figures, testimonials (video testimonials are great) and demonstration proof. Anything that makes you come over as an authority figure.

Finally, have an irresistible offer. Make an offer to your reader that they can’t refuse. Make your offer so strong they can’t lose anything by buying from you.

By including these elements in your web pages your web site will persuade more of your web site visitors into buying from you.
